I've been doing the same program for about a month now. Pretty simple stuff but I'm getting a bit bored with it. So, I was thinking of starting a new routine. Should I try the program that FT comes up with or custom make one myself? What do you find works best for you?

I like that FT keeps things changing but at the same time every week I may be doing different exersises and that makes it difficult to find the weight i should be working with, and increasing.

Thoughts??

do your own if it suits you.. but think about making small changes like...

design an 8 week program
after 8 weeks change tricep pushdowns into french press
then chamge an exercise or two per week until after 8 weeks you have your own brand new programme... then repeat..

oh and do interval training on bikes or ellipticals and do it hard to force your heart rate to give yer a smiley buzz for the day- really focus on it to get that euphoric smile..

Thanks for the reply. My work out budy and I went through the week of FT program and decided it wouldn't work for us. We like to keep moving as much as possible, with no down time. For example we'll do a set on the bench then go do a set with abs and come back. We work different areas in the down times instead of sitting on the bench resting. The FT program isn't super flexable with allowing to do that. Super setting chest and doing one leg work out isn't going to work.

Plus, most of the exersizes it recommended were already doing a easier to perform version of. We work safe, simple stuff, and the ft program had more difficult to execute versions for us. IE Donkey calf raises, ab twists, front squats, dead lifts. Exersises that could hurt you if your not doing them with proper form. I concentrate on the simple form as it is, and try to do it with good execution. I don't want to have to worry about too much at one time.

I will incorporate your idea, and suggestion by adding in new variations of the same exersises. I think that will greatly help avoid boredom.

Interval training I have a question on. So between sets go do some cardio? Is that your suggestion? Or between excersises?? As for heart rate I keep mine pretty high with all the moving around we do. My weight lifting HR is around 80-90 BPM.
