Hi! Welcome to ft!
You are every bit as important as your family when it comes to feeding yourself right. If you need to - look at it this way: the better care you take of yourself, the better you will be able to take care of your family.
Get started gradually, ease into your ruotine and enjoy the time by yourself. My daughter seemed to adjust her wake-up schedule depending on when I got up early to exercise. Finally we reached an agreement where she would sit on the couch and watch while I worked out. (My favorite quote , while I was doing a denise Austin workout video "Why does everyone have to do what SHE says?")(My thoughts exactly, baby).
A portion of protein is about the size and thickness of a deck of cards, a slice of bread should be about the size of a CD, a serving of grains/carbs should be the size of your closed fist, and veggies are basically unlimited, as long as they aren't smothered in fatty sauces.
Did you treat ourself exceptionally well when pregnant/ I did. I have tried to figure out why I am not worth that much care and nutrition when I am not pregnant - the answer is - i am!!! Take care of yourself!!! Work exercise into your routine and find exercise you enjoy!!!! eat healthy, nourishing foods!
Don't skip meals! It will slow your metabolism - get into the habit of eating a healthy snack/meal every three hours. This will keep your metabolism up and your energy levels stable.
remember - its okay to fall down, as long as you get back up again.
