Well I know that a good muscle soreness means you did a great workout. Now Im just wondering why I can only get my chest and abs sore for 2-3 days... Sometimes I can get my triceps pretty sore too but besides , I just cant get any soreness in the delts, biceps, back( but considering i train at home with basic stuff its hard to get a good back workout).

So now Im just wondering if no soreness = no good ....

What you guys think anyways?

Dan

I think it also depends on your genetics. Its hard for me to get my shoulders sore for anymore than a day after I do the exercise. my biceps are usually only sore at the bottom near the elbow. If you're working out at home, throw in some barbell rows and deadlifts. If you don't have enough weight, then simply do more reps, except at a slower tempo.

also the parts you dont seem to get sore at......maybe cos you need to increase the weights or sets

You may wanna change your routine around ...have a swap with the exercises. eg, instead of shouder presses try front raises, and so on.

DOMS (Delayed onset muscle soreness). I disagree with the old saying, "No Pain No Gain" when it relates to DOMS. What an individual tells me by stating that they’re severely sore 2 days after a workout is the following:

1. New to exercise or just coming back from a lay-off.
2. Not new to exercise but are not warming up properly, such as stretching and raising body temp before lifting.
3. Not pyramiding before lifting heavy weight.

I'm not saying that I don't experience DOMS because I do when I don't warm up properly before lifting.

If a person is doing a new 8 - 12 week program s/he may experience some DOMS relating to any new exercise that were performed. However, a person shouldn't be sore for the entire program but only the first couple weeks until the body adapt to the movements.

Remember, Stretching, Warming up (Cardio 5 min before), and Proper lifting can allow a person to escape the pain of DOMS. You don't need constant DOMS pain to get stronger and change your body's appearance. What we should all be experiencing is "Acute Soreness" but that is a different topic.

change your routine around. like the order which you do exercises in, maybe use dumbells instead of a bar or vice versa. Also try varying the angles at which you workout. You have to shock your muscles to make them grow, but you don't have to excessively overdo it

I use to have the same problem and I never got much muscle growth and later I found out I was overtraining. Since I've been with FT I have muscle sorenes all the time. There workouts are short, I increase weights when possible and I try to change rest times. As some of the people before me have said make some changes.I also workout at home. It works for me.

Im just a lost newbie in all this stuff. Guess Ill learn with time , mistakes and efforts.

one of the best thing about the FT programs is that the workouts are based around compound multi-jointed movements, such as the squat, deadlift, and bench press. Too many people are doing isolation and cable exercises when what they really need to do is to build a complete foundation with the compound exercises. Follow the FT programs honestly and I bet you will get big!

I think squeezing at the end of a workout will achieve more than flailing and swinging weight around. Totally control and concentrate on each rep. It will pay off. Stay focused. The HogLog.

i just started a new routine recently, outside of FT, and it involves a lot of spotting and weight i cant handle on my own. i am not sore that day that i work out, but i am very sore the next couple of days. one good thing is though that my biceps have just seemed to pop out, with just one workout. granted they hurt real bad, but i think it works.

I read that there are two kinds of soreness. The Good kind, pushing yourself so that whatever exercise your putting against your body, so that future lifts or whatever will be easier. And theres the bad kind, pushing yourself to much that if could mess up your joints <---- This kind of soreness is caused by small tears in the muscle, you know you've over done it when your so sore you can barely move. Im not necessarily giving advice im just telling you what ive read.

I have this problem with my back. What I did was lower the weight I was doing and do the movements more slowly. And it really helps if you think about the muscle and feel contraction on each rep. Last night I did this and I thought I probly wouldn't get sore because of the light weight, but I am really sore.
