Hi, I am having problems getting rid of this last layer of fat, so I've decided to step up my cardio a little bit. I am currently doing about 3 days a week/45 minutes a session. On my 3 weight days I am going to wake up early and do my cardio in the morning. My question is..on my cardio days would it be beneficial to wake up and do an extra session of cardio, or just add more time onto my afternoon cardio?

It would be better to wake up and do it in the morning. You will burn more fat in the morning. but you might lose muscle. I'm not sure about that, do a search on fitbuddy to make sure

hey there kimgray, actually i would just up your cardio sessions another 10 minutes keep everything else the same. The real thing here is your diet it's very quite simple just drop some calories startr at 250. Thats the key you could actually still keep you cardio the same and just drop your calories. same effect as doing extra cardio. When you do extra cardio your just burning more calories so why over work yourself when it's as easy as dropp calories. Oh yeah when doing cardio, i wouldn't suggest 2 cardio sessions a week sounds like that'd be asking for overtraining will prob. do more harm than good. just stick to 3 days cardio and 3 weight weight training and adjust your diet accordingly. and DX14AG you do not burn more fat in the morning!!! if you wake up and do cardio on an empty stomach you will end up burning the same amount of fat than muscle if not more muscle therefore raising your BF% or remaing the same canceling out all the hard work you put in the gym packing hard lean tissue. Please do not post information that you are not 100% sure about because people will heed this advice which is not correct or healthy. Not to mention others who are reading these posts. So know what you are talking about before posting. I don't mean to sound harsh but we can't have people reading incorrect information.

I've talked a little bit about this subject previously, but oddly enough I don't think it was noticed...kinda figured it wouldn't. It is definately a newer (older really) point of view and WAY out of the mainstream. But that's me, WAY out there and always starting controversy. Cardiovascular training can be defined as: Sustained elevation of one's heart rate to a predetermined level BY ANY MEANS NECESSARY. This is an important statement "by any means necessary" because it doesn't specify or exclude. Treadmills and Recumbant bikes and Gazelle's and Eliptical trainers are just SOME of the methods that can be implemented. Of course the fitness industry would love to have you believe that their equiptment is as beneficial as their "unbiased" studies state. Well of course they do, they're funded by the same companies who manufacture and sell you cardio equiptment. What do you think those studies are going to say: Lifting weights in a circuit training protocol is better than slow-go jogging on our treadmill that cost millions of dollars to develop, manufacture and advertise? Of course not! They will manipulate every variable possible until they come out with a study that provides the ammo necessary for these companies advertising. Bow-flex, the Ab Dolly, the Ab Trainer....the abinizer (Arnold reference...this is where everyone laughs and applauds my comedic genious) and any other gimicky product have so-called scientific studies and doctor recommendations that advocate using them. But nearly all of these studies and "doctors" are paid by the companies to say exactly what they want them to say.

Conspiracy theorist, of course....you should hear me when I get started on prescription medicine! If you've got a couple hours and don't mind hearing every cuss word invented, then you'll love my seminar on why what you don't know about prescription medicine could kill you. LOL Don't even get me started on nutrition unless you've got a couple of days to kill!

If you're asking where I'm going with this....to be honest, I'm not sure. It started off as a reply to a question and it has somehow morphed into an article on the conflict of interests that happen everyday in the health and fitness industry. Everyone on this forum needs to be aware of alot of the shady activities that are going on all around you because of your trust in the system. Nobody wants to hear the truth about greedy corporations trying to make money off of your pain and dysfunction. Think about it this way, if there weren't treadmills or weight systems or 24 hour fitnesses, where would these people be working....probably for the F.D.A. (joking).

Why am I telling you all of this, am I trying to sell you something...no, am I conserned about the wellfare of mankind...absolutely. I just wish I could say the same thing about the governing bodies who are supposed to keep us safe and pride an environment for health. In the coming days, weeks and months I'll be providing information that should've been presented and taught to all of us at an early age. It's that important to me, I'm not a "tree-hugger," I'm not green-peace, I just know the difference between right and wrong. And I know that when we are not informed of potentially dangerous products, drugs and foods, that something needs to be done about it. All I ask is that whoever reads my posts, reads them with an open mind and understands that I'm simply trying to help.

Sorry if I didn't answer your question yet...when I get off a tangent like this, it's nearly impossible for me to stop. I'll get to it tomorrow if I'm not too busy at work.
David
