I'd like to start a little routine for all of us who fit into this "Overweight and Obesity" category. We can all work off of each others motivation. Please, Check in on a regular basis and let everyone know how you're doing.
Today I went to the gym before work with plans to do weights for chest and back. When I got there, I realized I'd forgotten the printout from FT and decided to do some cardio instead. I started on the bike for only 5 minutes and I just felt really lazy. I decided I'd jump on the treadmill instead. Believe it or not, I got my 250lb a$$ to jog. That's right folks, jogging. I did the best HIIT i could with 1 minute low intensity, 1 minute jogging for 15 minutes or so. I'm pretty proud. I'll be back at the gym this afternoon for a lunch hour aerobics class that I love, and will try and stick around after that and get the weights in. Or, I'll go tomorrow morning for the weights. How did everyone else start their week?:) |

Congrats to you! I began my week yesterday with a five minute warm up, followed by a chest workout, followed by 20 minutes of HIIT. I drank my shake on the way home and got ready for the week. My 260 lb self is getting thinner (people at work have commented and some friends, too) so I am starting to feel like this could work. Today is back day. My personal favorite.

I want you all to know that I'll be using you as inspiration. So keep moving! Keep posting! And keep getting healthy! |

I just started this today and I am over 230 pounds don't know exactly since I don't have any scales at the moment, I have no way of going to a gym, so all you lucky ones that get the privalge of that please pray for me for I now know this is going to be a long hard road ahead of me, I know that this is the first step in a long and healthy life, but I feel defeated already, I just started and couldn't do have the excercises without getting so winded I thought I would literally have an infarction I didn't thank God, but I feel lousy now, I thought excercising was supposed to make you feel good, I don't is there any hope for me after all.... I know today is the first day but did I do something wron? anyway just thought I would reach out I really do need a bigger support system, I have my wonderful boyfriend who supports me but I lash out at him (not wanting or meaning to) because of the way I look, I can't fit in half of my clothes and refuse to buy any more. Please help!! :(

Elektra, which plan are you using. You really won't help yourself if you over do. If you push too hard you risk the discouragement you feel now or worse, injury. How about patting yourself on the back for even doing day one?? You are being gutsy saking for support. You've done the first hard thing. The next hard thing is to stick with it.
Fill out your profile and plan on joining the fine folks here for the long run. You will find the support you need here. Welcome to FT. -------------- Foolish consistancies are the hobgoblins of small minds. Charlie | |

Good start everyone! I hit the gym this am (tuesday) and remembered to take my plan. Did weights for chest and back.
Here's a question for our little club - should I be doing more? When I'm at the gym, i feel pooped when I'm done what the ft program tells me to do. But a few hours later, I feel like I could go back and do more. And, I generally don't feel sore after. Am I not going hard enough. How did everyone else's Tuesday start? |

Elektra don't get discouraged!!! The first day of any workout is always the hardest! Don't push yourself too hard or you might hurt yourself and then will be frustrated even more when you have to take time off to recover. I just started a new work out today as well, I work out at home to some videos I bought and thought I was gonna pass out as well  Why don't we be work out buddies and keep each other motivated! I weigh 215, down from 240 give or take 3 months ago so I know the frustration! Keep with it though and you will make yourself so proud! I'm sure if you BF is as supportive as you say then he knows you don't mean to lash out at him and will not take it personally! I hope to hear from you on your progress! If you want to chat anytime my e-mail is karebear_johnson@yahoo.com and I check it multiple times a day so feel free to write! Gripe, Rejoice, Vent, or Brag about your workout!-------------- Love me as I am . . . Let me worry about how I look! |

Great idea Mutt (can I call you that?) My immediate short term goal is get to the gym 5 times a week for the next month and to be able to jog for 5 minutes by the end of it.
A little longer term ... I got 100 lbs to drop. |

Last time they all saw me I was 240 pounds, at 215 now and have a month and a half to lose at least 16 pounds!-------------- Love me as I am . . . Let me worry about how I look! |

I didn't make it to the gym this morning. I had a late night last night so an extra hour of sleep was needed. I'll go at noon today and do the weights for my legs. I think I'm going to throw in some leg presses. Right now my ft only has 2 exercises in my program for the legs (plus calves) and I think I can do some more. So, I'll at that in today at noon.
Good luck on the goals everyone. Mutt - how many pounds do you think you'll have to lose to get to that waiste size? How long do you think it'll take? Kyrah - I'm sure you'll be able to wow them with your weight loss. Good for you. Cristalbelle - I too have chosen an important day for a goal. There is this great skirt I'd like to fit into for my husbands birthday in the middle of July. I'll have to really work my butt off for that (literally I'm aftaid). Make sure you buy something sexy to wear for the aniversary once you make your goal. |

Well I weighed 240 in 96 and had a 42 in waist so most likely I will have to hit 240 and have a bf% of 12-14%...I hope to be close to that by year end.-------------- LIFT HEAVY! BECOME STRONG, LIKE BULL! 7707mutt@freetrainers.com |

Goal clothes are ALWAYS great incentive! Last summer I bought my first pair of Calvin Klien Jeans and the largest size they had was one size too small at the time. . . then I got depressed and quit smoking and gained 50 pounds so I have never actually gotten to wear them :( Anyways, I have them hanging on my back door which also happens to be located right next to my refridgerator in the kitchen  Keeps me from snacking sometimes when I shouldn't!!-------------- Love me as I am . . . Sorry bout the double post yesterday, darn back button. Anywho, did my workout video again today and feeling frustrated. One of the last "segments" of the video is kneeling leg lifts where you are on your knees and elbows and do 3 different kind of leg raises on each leg, I can't seem to make it through more than one set of each and want to cry when the instructor says "ok now fast this set" I feel like I'm never going to be able to do these with out the burning pain that makes me have to sit back into my heels to stretch it out. Anyways that is my vent for today. . . along with the evil resistance band that I am so temped to "lose" so I don't have to use it anymore -------------- Love me as I am . . . Keep going Kyrah!! Eventually you will be able to do all 3 leg raises, and then you can yell at the video and say " HA HA HA HAH AHAHAHAHAHA!!!!!!" Looking forward to my weights today, and I had a bonus this morning. Few weeks ago I tried on a pair of shorts I bought before I got pregnant, and they buttoned, but were too tight to wear. I tried them on this morning, and they are still tight, but if I needed to wear them, I would feel pretty ok about how they
looked. YAY!! |

Hi everyone. Sorry I haven't been around for a while. I've been so busy. I've gotten my aerobics in on the last part of the week, but need to hit the gym today to catch up on the weights. Its a long weekend in Canada and I have been digging up my yard. At least that's exercise.
I bought the Prevention Running magazine yesterday. It has a 12 week program to turn you into a runner. It looks pretty do-able so I'm going to give it a shot. Who knows, I might run a 5K some time soon. Kyrah - don't worry about the video girl. You can always try pausing it and really taking your time to get through all the reps. Or just do what you can for now. It won't be long before you'll be moving onto the next phase. Someone please start a new "Monday" thread. I might not be around tomorrow. Cheers and happy fat burning! |

Hello everyone, I don't usually do a lot of posting, but I just love these boards. I would like to say, I entered the challenge that's starting June 1st. I am going to give it my best. I need to lose tons of weight. I just take it one day at a time. I'm trying to get in more cardio and more resistance training. I know I could do better, I only get out what I put in. Hopefully I will be doing much better. I have started eating 5 small meals per day. I did 15 minutes of HIIT today on the treadmill today. I did one minute at 4MPH and one minute at 6mph. I did this for 15 minutes. I got my heart rate up to 138pbm. My max is 163bpm. I sure hope this put me in the fat burning mode. I did this before eating. I plan on doing 45 more minutes of cardio before the day is over. I will do resistance tomorrow. I have 2,3,5,10,& 15 pounds dumbells. I would like to thank everybody for all of their help. A special thanks to Charlie. I found this terrific web site. It has demonstrations of 100's of weight exercises. It's www.exercisedb.com
