Hi, I am 36 yo female and I have been on the Atkins program for the past 4 weeks, I have lost a total of 8-9 pounds. I am currently on Perdizone 7.5 mg daily and Viox 50 mgs daily for Rhumtoid Arthritis.
I follow the diet for the most part and walk 30 minutes a day 3-4 times a week. I am discurage that I haven't lost more weight. Can the meds I am on keep me from losing? I want to start working out and toning up....I am hoping this will jusp start my metabolisim. I would love any info on the med situation.
Thanks,
Rooster

As far as the Perdizone goes I have no idea. The Viox should not interfere with weight loss. If anything Viox would tend to cause side effects with your GI tract. Is Perdizone the generic name for something else? Good luck

If you are talking about prednisone (I believe the -one ending indicates a steroid) then you are taking a steroid and they will pack the weight on and puff you up. However, they are good for what they are prescribed for. They are generally given in a cycle. How long are you required to take them? If you have to take them regularly you may want to speak with your physician. If you are talking about another type medication-disregard this, I have no idea.

Hi again,
Yes I am taking prednisone!!! Sorry it was late when I posted that message hence the spelling..lol. I ahve been on the prednisone for almost a year now. My rhumatologist is slowing weaning me off the prednisone. But it will be a while before I am able to get off it completely...or least that is the goal. Oh well...off to Walmart to get some hand weights.... :-P
Thanks everybody and have a great day...

After thinking about it I had to post again. By taking your medication you are at only a slight disadvantage. You just have to watch what you eat and how you eat more carefully. Contiune with your program and you will still see results and feel the benefits. My wife has taken the same medicine for awhile and has gained a few extra pounds but she continues to make good progress. I just didn't want you to become discouraged. It was meant to help answer your question. Sorry

8-9 pounds in 4 weeks is right on track. A good healthy rate of weight loss is 1.5-2 pounds a week. You are doing great, keep it up!
