What exercises/training is suggest in order for someone to become more light and nimble on ones feet? I would figure various leg strengthening exercises but I'm wondering if there is anything specific, like what type of leg exercises. Thanks in advance for any help provided.

Weight training for your legs is a great start, Any of the exercises you find here will help. Jumping rope is the best and easiest exercise to develop quickness. What you will need to do is include high speed aerobics in your routines as opposed to longer slower training, If you want explosive quickness/power, due an internet search on "plyometrics". These are the exercises to use for explosive quickness for competition.

Check out ballet (don't laugh) if you really want legs that do what you want when you want. It works because you learn to pay attention to exactly what your muscles have to do for each motion. also, you get gorgeous definition remarkably fast. Good luck. (--I use ballet as a big part of my training, and it's paying off.)

Martial arts works good. Kyokushin karate is great, for example.
