At my gym it's usually not easy to get help (spotter) while doing exercises such as bench presses & squats, how do I avoid accidently dropping the bar or injuring myself on those last reps with heavy weight without a spotter ?

You may just have to know your limits. Personally on bench, if I fail and have no spotter, I just roll the bar down to my waist and then sit up. With Squats, if you have safety pins, you should just be able to drop the weight on them. That's what they're their for. You can also do presses in a power rack and have the pins set so you can lose the weight onto them if need be.
