Hello Everyone,

My name is Chris. I have been going to a gym for around 4 weeks. The first thing I noticed is that my left arm is considerably weaker than my right. I weight train 4 days a week, Chest & Triceps - Monday, Legs & Biceps - Tuesday, Back & Shoulders - Wednesday, Chest & Abs - Friday. Any suggestions or information on how to get my left up to speed would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks

Give it time...your left arm will catch up. It took about 3 months for my left arm to catch up to my right arm.

In the meantime, just make sure you watch your form when lifting and mix up your workout including barbell AND dumbbell exercises.

Typically people are alittle stronger with their natural hand when just starting out. They will balance out eventually. As Bicepbri said, you should mix up barbell and dumbell excercises, because dumbells force you to use both arms and not let one compensate for the other. Best of luck to you!

Thanks for the replies everyone. They are very helpful. What would you all say about devoting a whole day to just training my left till it gets caught up.
Thanks

e- I hope you were kidding about that last comment. My left arm started out considerably weaker, but now in some moves it is stronger. My left shoulder is stronger because I had a rotator problem with the right last year and it hasn't caught up yet. I found that working with dumbells helped more than barbells. With the bb my stronger arm will make up for the weaker one.

Devoting a full workout to your left arm will just make it tired and you risk over-training. I know people who have tried this! Don't do it...be patient, you've only been at this 4 weeks. You're left arm will catch up.
