I enjoy running, especially late at night right before i plan to go to bed. My late night runs are usually quite long as its the time i use to clear my head and really spend some time with myself (more than 5 km's usually, always sprinting the last couple blocks , dont know why, just makes me happy). I was wondering does this greatly take away from the abiltiy of my muscles to grow oernight? I tend to weightlift 4 times a week, in the early afternoon and do HIIt at the track on 2 of my non-lifitng days. Am i wasting my daytime workouts with too much running?

This is a good question where the right answer may not be the right answer. Is it the best for muscle growth? Probably not as it sounds like you're going to bed depleted. In the long run does it matter? Personally I wouldn't care as it's giving you something you really enjoy so I wouldn't worry about it. Most of us average workout people do it because we enjoy it. :)

As you have asked about your muscles growing and you have not filled in your profile I will guess you want to gain lean mass. I would say that the long runs combined with all the other activity are not the best thing for muscle growth. Do a search and you will find lots of research stating that cardio can hinder muscle growth as your body will want to stay as light as possible in order to run that distance. Having said that 5K is not all that long so if you keep the runs no more than 5K you should be all right, especially if you eat after the run to replenish what you just used up. And with all the exercise, if you are trying to gain, are you eating enough? Best thing to do would be to try not running for a month and see if you gain better with out it. As you already have some HIIT in the mix to help keep you lean.
