I can get a good deal (in the store $500) on a Northern Lights Lat machine (plated). I was wandering if anyone used it and/or has any comments on it. I want something solid with a smooth motion.
the reason I`m looking into it is for my wife and rows.

These are cheaper on you add plates to them which I think is better, nothing worst then them stupid sticky plates. God I hate it when plates stick on a heavy lift.

pull up bar is a much better investment....along with a chain belt and some freeweights...much cheaper....and much more useful....plus it wont take up a lot of space and is easy to move...

I have a CAGE with a pull up bar... and I do work hard on my pull ups....
it`s more for the wife and my cable rows,
but I might skip it and get dumbells instead.
thnx

pull up bar+ some bands....they could help her eliminate the gap needed to do pull ups....I know many people cant do pulls/chins right away and bands are very useful for that purpose....
wrestler got a great post stickied in general forum or intermediate strength training about being able to do them....even starting from 0....so take a read....
http://www.ironwoodyfitness.com/fitness_bands.html
that site has some relatively reasonable prices when it comes to bands....so you could get those bandsas they will become very useful for both you and your wife....she could attach them to the bar....you can use them with the opposte purpose of attaching them to the floor and then to your body for added resistance as well as adding them for other big lifts to train DE or to do an exercise witha bit of a twist...
try doing barbell bent over and dynamic rows in place of the seated rows....
good luck

for pull ups the bands go on the bar and under the knees/lower legs when doing pull ups with assistance....

Thnx Menace ... that was great info
I`ll skip that lat machine I found dumbells for a great deal ..I`ll be picking `em up tomorrow (if everything will go right)
what you mean by dynamic rows ?(faster?)

it's a combination of bent over row and deadlifts....you start out in deadlift position....accelerate the bar and then instead of just locking it out, you do a row....try looking up the form on youtube.com or perhaps google videos...you can generally use more weight because you're incorporating momentum/stronger muscles to accelerate the bar...

That`s funny I`ve actually tried that ..as an experiment ...
sometimes I add my own variations to a regular lift.
Thnx I~ll look into the bands (I`ll try you tube for assisted pull up)
