Laser Hair Removal

I think it was affordablelaser.com I will double check though. It said that some candidates are better than others and that dark coarse hair on fairer skin was the best. I think they said it usually takes between 3 and 10 treatments. I know alot of competitors shave for competition, but someone must have done a more permanent solution. Look in the phone book under estishins(spelling). they can answer your questions best? -------------- We must take care of our bodies, its where we live.

U also have to make sure they test it on your skin. people with fair skin and dark hair do best, since I am naturally orangey (word?) in skin color I had to use the laser for darker skin pigmentation

dfly411 Posts: 1,352 Joined: 2004/03/04	2004/03/09, 02:29 PM I had some lazer removal and yes, it does hurt like hell!! Does it always work? Well, my doctor would only commit to "most often"..... You see, contrary to popular belief, a few zaps of a laser doesn't mean you can totally retire your razor or wax. What the laser can do, however, is to reduce the amount of hair you have and, perhaps, lead to some permanent hair removal. In addition, it can lighten the color of the hair and decrease its thickness. The process is scary but still amazing to me, the light from the lazer passes through your skin and gets absorbed by the melanin in the hair follicles. (that's why it works better on fair skinned people as less of the light is absorbed by the pigment in the skin) The most popular theory is that the heat generated by the laser breaks apart the follicle. Over the next two months, hairs gradually fall out, so you should keep in mind that three or four treatments, six to eight weeks apart, may be needed to achieve a meaningful reduction in the amount of hair. If you are too intimidated by the lazer, you can always try electrolosis!:big_smile:

Fireb17 Posts: 19 Joined: 2004/03/10	2004/03/17, 02:19 PM i have had my eyes correct with a lazer...it took about 5 minutes to do the whole procedure and when my eyes reduced back down from being dialated i could already tell a difference in my vision before it cleared up later that night and now my vision is awesome...a little better than 20/20 now....so i would do the laser on the back.....the eyes are just a little irritated after the surgery, but since the back in skin i would wonder about possible burns similar to sunburns....
deaddale Posts: 11 Joined: 2004/03/22	2004/03/24, 09:21 AM I had it done on my back, shoulders, arms, and neck (I wasn't tested but it appeared that I was at least 29% mountain gorilla) and it was painful as hell. Plus if you have tattoos it will be a thousand times worse, more light is absorbed so it gets MUCH hotter. I'm going to be going to my 3 session soon, and so far it seems to be working. It is not a one shot fixes all by any means, but I have seen a definate decrease in the amount of hair from session to session.
