I have 49 days to lose about 30 lbs to keep my job. If I can make that goal I will need to lose another 50 to keep them off my back for good. It's hell being too heavy to keep a really good job. I am over the max safe working load for the ladders and equipment in my currrent position. Any encouragement or advise is greatly appreciated. I have unitl Oct. 1 to reach 290lbs. Wish me luck. I am more than determined to keep this job.

Welcome to FT! For starters find some "healthy" foods you really like and keep them around as alternatives to the usual temptations. Find little ways to add extra movement to your day, take the stairs, park at the back of the parking lot, etc. and pick up a "healthy" hobby like bike riding or hiking trails at a local forest preserve. Stay away from carbonated beverages cause the tend to cause water retention. . . um. . . yeah. . . oh and have fun! Dieting doesn't have to be a 'chore' it can be an adventure!

Exercise, eat enough calories to sustain your energy levels so you don't sabatoge yourself by eating too little, and exercise some more! Stay here at FT for encouragement and stick to your goals, drop the foods you know are B A D, like pop, hydro oils, fast food, greasy stuff, white anything (go wheat), etc. and you should see some results! Go to www.mybodycomp.com and you can fill in your measurements and use it as a journal to compare your progress rather than stepping on a scale which can be enough to make the toughest person give up!

Hang in there and remember the rule of thumb: 3500 calories to lose or gain a pound, but do it right or you can do more damage in the long run than good!

Thanks for the encouragement. I am felling better about the weight loss, but I am still anxious about the time frame.

What would be the minimum amount of calories that I should be getting per day? I began my program in force this weekend with a juice fast. That went fine. The problem is that now if find that I get stuffed full on a lot less food. LastFriday I got just over 1700 cals and 4 carbs, but today I only got 675 cals and 4 carbs. I just can't eat any more. I am too full. Is this normal after a juice fast?

Yes, my Dr. said the program would be OK for me to start.

Went back and ate 3 oz. meat and a hard boiled egg. Up to almost 1000 cals.

Hmmm, sound like your stomach shrank a bit and is not able to fit as much food in at once.
Now dont forget, you should eat around 6 times a day. Try to space out the food. Eat a good breakfast, and then have a snack later on, but before lunch. Then have lunch, and then later before dinner have a snack. Awhile before bed have another snack. Make sure all snacks are healthy, and you should be fine. This should get your caloric intake up to where you want it. Another source of inspiration for me is mens health magazine. ALOT of information in those, and right now they are having an abs diet challenge which is chock full of good food that you can eat, and snack on as well.
Check it out and good luck!
