Why are you falling off?
Figure that out and make (and commit to) the necessary change. My guess is that this is going to keep happening if you don't and eventually, like touching a hot stove, you're going to stop doing it based on failures. As for starting over again - I will leave that for the smart people here, but I doubt it would make a difference. I'd probably go for a "clean" start though. -------------- _Shane I dont have to outrun the bear - just you.... |

I'm with Shane, make a clean start of it. Make the commitment to achive your goals. Write them down and review them everyday if neccesary.

I agree to leslie's agreement. :laugh::laugh:
But Shane has a point...why are you falling off? Are you allowing a lot of the stuff you shouldn't be eating in the house? What is your workout schedule? Are you allowing other things to take precedence? These are things you have to ask yourself and you need to find a way to focus on what you really really want for yourself. If your transmission fell out of your car, you'd probrably make sacrifices where ever you had to to get a new car? Right? Well it's the same thing...if you want to be healthy and live longer for your family then you'll make sacrifices where ever needed. One thing I know my mom used to do a lot when I was a kid (for her physical as well as emotional being) was post motivational notes everywhere...bathroom mirrors, refrigerator, car, office desk...everywhere you'll see them. Ask some people to help you out...pick your closest friends and family and let them know you want this, but you need their support to stay on top of you over it and keep you motivated. My wife thought I'd be done after 2 or 3 weeks...but it's almost a month and a half in and I'm still going strong and only getting stronger. Now she is much more supportive and is slowly starting to take hold of everything I'm learning and incorporating into her diet...and I'm slowly getting her into exercising. |

NO cookies, chips or anything like that... I chew sugar free gum when i have cravings for that stuff!!! or munch on a apple or something healthy!! :) just mainly gotta get myself on a set routine that works and stick with it is all... the hard part for me is finding the right daily/weekly routine....... :)

Make a list of why you like exercising...or what you hope to achieve
For example.... I like training because I feel better about myself, I look much better, I am more energetic, I am more functional in my life, I am able to keep up more with my kids, so that I can live longer and be there for my grandkids, etc... In order to achieve this...I promise to the the following: X Y Z Signed.... Your name.... Witnesses 1 2 3 etc create this contract of sort...make this commitment in front of your family/friends, sign it, and ask your witnesses to sign as well.... As suggested by other place this contract on your TV or door where you're likely to see it...and make sure to look at it at least once a day Also mentally plan your workouts ahead of time....close your eyes and try to visualize going through your workout....rep by rep...set by set...try to plan ahead of what you're going to do....etc... | |

Quoting from babydolwv: well its not my eating or anything like that it my exercise routine... this will make the 3rd time that i have gone a wk with out doing it.. the first time i will go as far as saying is was cause of family probs (my aunt passed away) so i was spending alot of time with family members helping them cope with it and stuff like that, but this last time honstly i have no reason, guess i just got caught up with extra house work and taking my kids outside to play in the beautiful weather... not a good enough reasons, but I guess that is why i had not done them this past time, but i am gonna sit down this evening while they are sleeping and work me out some kind a daily routine hr to hr if i have to and make myself stick to it..... the food i have no prob with i am the only one that goes shopping so i pick what comes in and out of the house... salads and veggies for me lol!! When people know what you're doing you'll have the sense that they will expect you to fail...so if you put it on paper and people know about it then it's a good motivater to prove yourself...well at least it was for me. Also I will say that getting caught up in playing with your kids isn't an awful thing. I got a 4 yr old and an 8 yr old...taking them to the park and playing with them (rather then sitting watching) can be a pretty good aerobic workout in itself. Incorporating your family in your workout is a great way to get motivated and keep moving...and you can do it without them even knowing and they'll appreciate it. So use that time...while still doing weights and watching your diet on the side and you should be fine. Also I understand about the family stuff. My Grandmother had a heart valve replacement surgery at the age of 84 a few weeks ago so I missed a few days myself. She's doing good now and recovering very well, but it was a scary few days as they couldn't get her breathing on her own for a while. She ran circles around the entire family before the surgery...hate to see what she's gonna do after her recovery. It's actually quite funny...the Dr said that the pig valve (yes the other white meat valve) would last 10 yrs and she was really concerned about what happens after that. :laugh: She doesn't even realize that she helped to inspire me to do what I can to live out a full life. |
