I ran across these in a bargain bin for $4.00 each and snagged them up to see if the info on them was realistic. Lets face it the dude is on the tv so much I feel like he lives at my house so wanted to see if he was full of crap.
The information on his first video deals with his personal routine which consists of the standard chest day, back day and so on. It also includes nutritional information regarding which types of foods are good choices and even discusses glycemic index. All sound advice.
The second video is called 45 Minute fat burning workout, It is more of an areobic type workout using light dumbells. Basically working each muscle group without a break in between to keep the heart rate up. Tried it and surprisingly it wears you out pretty good.
All the information covered is easily found on Freetrainer but nice for beginners to have all the information explained without wading through the search function.
Anyway on to the question.
Since I enjoyed the fat burning routine would it be alright to use it as a substitute on my normal cardio day.
Example:
Day one - Back,Shoulders
Day two - Biceps,Triceps
Day three - 45 minute fat burning workout
Day four - Chest, Legs
Day five - 45 minute fat burning workout
Day six - Rest
Day seven - 45 minute fat burning workout

Goal is to maintain lean weight and hopefully finally be able to shed the final few pounds of fat.

The reason I ask is since the fat burning routine uses dumbells would it be overtraining the muscle groups if done the day after doing heavy weight training?
Many thanks in advance

Chest and Legs on the same day is beyound me, I just can't see either one getting hit too hard being done on the same day.

Cardio with weights I have no clue about but I'm going to guess for me it would overtrain on me because I go all out in every routine I do and need all the rest I can get.

As a matter of fact in able to help get out of a chest plateau I had to make 1 day just for Chest and AB and the same with Legs, Legs and Abs.

Just another exaple of nothing will work for everyone. Try it out for a few weeks and see what it does for you. It's all about finding what works for you. If you're following a healthy diet, then experiment a little with the lfiting/cardio and see what works best!!

MVP,
The weightlifting portion was actually created by using the Freetrainer fitness program:big_smile:. I have been cycling through them for the past 1 1/2 years. I spent 4 months eating and doing the mass programs (slight mods each time) and now want to start trimming off the chubbiness in time for Summer.
My goal has never been to be huge but simply have a modestly muscular physique with a nice "ripped" appearance. Never have been able to shave off the final few pounds of fat though and I am hoping the "weighted aerobics " will work where bicycling and heavy bag have failed in the past.
Thanks for the replies fellas'

Your going to have to trick your body to shed the rest and or ad some mass.

Trick I mean is to eat more then needed for a few week then diet back down.

The routine given to you is just another reason I don't like the layout given in this site!

Your profile says your 167 pounds and 6 foot that really light, I'm 1/2 inch shorter and in the morning after pee I'm almost 186 now and before I started to work on gains I was 176 and before I was on a lose program I was 240.

I took allot of weight off but muscle came with it and I only lost 5% body fat and this pissed me off I lost like 60 pounds just to only lose 5% body fat and I was pissed. This took a year.

I revamped my diet and started to lift heavy and ended up losing 8% BF in just 4 to 5 months and I'm by far not huge I'm still small compared to most lifters in the gym.

You have to eat huge to get huge so you can lift heavier meaning 6 to 8 reps and you'll gain better and burn better.

By the way I'm 38 and started when I was 36 and for the most part had to rehab a bulging disc at the same time in the lower back.

As a matter of fact I do allot less cardio almost none and get better results with lifting then I did ever with cardio 3 days a week. Cardio kept me fat too long and took away too much mass from me.

The only cardio I do now is HIIT. Short sprints with short rest periods in between. Like Wednesday I ran 8 15-second sprints with one minute rest inbetween. This is enough to get the body to burn fat, but long enough that you risk losing muscle.
