Theres an agrument going on another sight I go to...mostly just for shit and giggles but anyways.....the question is "the guy wants to make his "outer" biceps bigger. I guess meaning the part on the outside of the arm.....Well I said you can't really isolate that area....that shape of that area is more genetic....etc etc..
While another guy came in and said doing close grip curls would "hit" this area...that he has this "strength training book" thats says this hits the long head and it makes this area bigger?
Several others have said no its not possible ...
So what are you all beliefs etc?

BS. 100% BS. And anyone can put out a book. You know that already. It doesn't mean anything.
As for how much, you can't. Thats my answer. Read some pavel tsatsouline (thats real reading, from someone worthy of writing a book). Regardless of how hard you try, there will always be tension in other muscle groups. Its called hyperirradiation. And tension builds strength.

I have read other posts about isolating and just wondered if you cannot do it why there are so may different weight variations to do.

Because you can isolate to a degree. All it does is put more tension on the target muscle by REDUCING, not eliminating muscle stabilizers and protaganists. However, while this may be somewhat effective for hypertrophy, it will only work for so long. If you take out the stabilizers, you can't expect to get stronger. Your muscles are meant to work together. Your body functions as a whole. Why do you think you read so many posts recommending COMPOUND movements??? Because they are more effective, efficient, and productive.
Just because someone says something and other people agree doesn't make it right. Just because something is the popular way to do something, doesn't make it the right way to do something. Always question if something doesn't make sense, and always look for the reason why.
