I weighed in the morning, with all my clothes on (my mom said that made a difference), it is brand new, and it was set to my height of 5ft 3. I weigh 235lbs, so I know my body fat is going to be high, but this just seems insane.

Is it possible for someone to have upwards of 60% body fat?? How is that possible?? I used my mom's scale with the body fat thingy on it, and it said 60%!!! If I swore, this would be the place you would insert it " "!! I think I may have to re-think my workouts and eating habits if this is correct...yeesh. :(

when did you weight?
are the batteries fresh?
was it set to your height?
mine said I was at 30% lol , most I even been calipered at was 22%.

Those go on water, muscle by volume has more water than fat. water conducts electricity. Also the machine needs to knwo your height, somthing to do with how its conducted. So if your dehydrated, liek after you get up, you will have a higher "%" of fat, in its lil mind lol.

Electrrical indepandance I have read can be up to 10% inaccurate on some people.

shouldn't with cloths, I do it butt naked lol. could confuse the electriical charge that is used, cotton doesn't conduct electricity. So it could have mistaken it for flesh.

Those things are the absolute WORSE way to measure bodyfat... usually "larger" people have like 30-40% so I would say that the 60% is beyond absurd... if you want you, can go to just about any gym and they will measure you for free and it will be more accurate....

I think that 60% body fat is way to much! That would be a disgusting site to see butt naked. But I'm sure that your not that big

Lol..I am a big girl, and don't like what I see in the mirror butt naked, but thats why I am here!! My mom is much larger than I am and she is only at 41%. It was just a shock to see that number, and then think that our bodies are made of 30% water, so that leaves only 10% for muscle and bones. Yikes!!

Crystal, most methods of measuring BF are inaccurate enough to be bogus. I think a BF scale would be especially suspect. Be sure that which ever method you use that you do the same thing the next time you measure. In other words don't use the FT BF calculator and then go to mybodycomp.com the next time and then your scale the next time.

You'll get a more accurate measurement with calipers. You'll get the most accurate measurement with an autopsy but I think that may be pushing the envelope. A tape measure is a pretty good method and relatively foolproof.

For one thing, you have to do it at night with an empty bladder. BF is always higher in the AM. And I'm really not sure why, maybe someone has that answer but thats another topic.

well with that kinda measurement, its cause you loose water( vapor/ moisure) threw the night. Threw breathing etc. SO you wake up, having to pee liek a race horse, but your not hydrated.

As an expierment, after I got out of shower, kinda damp and got on mine.......droped like 6%. More hydrated you are, more "muscle" you have. Less water in your body, more "fat" you have.

I guess thats why drinking water is so important to fat loss. This hasn't hurt the motivation department though. Tuesday I walked for 20 min, last night I did the eliptical trainer for 30 min, tonight I will be doing tredmill for 20, and 30 on Friday. That is a really good week for me!!

Charlie I almost died at the autopsy comment. lolololol ROTFLMAO
Cristal Seriously. I would go to a gym and get one session with a personal trainer , someone who knows how to measure bodyfat correctly. With your stats though, I don't think you need to know bodyfat. You know you need to lose weight and I see you are on your way with it. Good for you.
