Hi,
I read that to bulk up, you need to increase your dumbell and barbell weight as the exercise program progresses. Is this true?
My problem is I've been increasing my barbell weight but I started my dumbells with the 'most' I could lift. That's to say, first rep 3kg, second rep 3.5 kg and third rep 5kg. Beyond 5kg, I can't lift the dumbell. So, how would you advice I up my bumbell weight?
I thought of making the first rep 3.5kg, the second rep 4kg and leave the third rep at 5kg. Is this ok?
Thanks you!

'Progressive Resistance' is the term you speak of, but I believe you misunderstand what it means. What it means is simply that as you continue your workouts you should continuously be increasing the intensity (increasing pounds, reps or sets) from 'one workout' to the 'next'. simply put this means that say for example that this week on bench press you are able to do 3 sets of 10 reps at 150lbs, the 'next week' your goal should be to either add more weight, get more reps, or add another set to the exercise. You want to strive to be able to do more, in whatever sense you can, each and every week.
