I've been lifting since March 24th 2004.. I'm 6'1 215 lbs 22 years old I have a 48 inch chest, 17 3/4 arms.. I am a serious endomorph it's kinda creepy... when I started two months ago I was benching sets of 5 x 5 at 205 now I'm hitting 5 x 5 at 265 with a 305 max.. my arm curls have gone from sets of 8 using 40lbs to sets of 6 - 8 using 65lbs I work out 5 nights a week doing Mon Chest/triceps Tues Biceps/Back Wed Shoulder/Legs Thurs Chest/tricep and Fri Biceps/Back every two weeks I shift it up to be Chest/Back and Bicep/Tricep in strict supersets.. I eat about 6 times a day about 180 grams of protein a day... ok now that I have some background stuff out of the way.. my question is why can't I gain on my shoulders at all? everything else I'm doing is goin up steadily I have yet to hit the plateau but with shoulders I can still only do lateral raises front and side with about 20 lbs and I see no sign of this changing does anyone know a real good way to jump this up? I've been doing sitting millitary presses with 80lb dumbells hoping that'd help but it's just causing stretch marks and rotator pain.. I'm very open for suggestion b/c I would like to become a serious weight lifter

Have you tried the weights where you are sitting down in a chair and lift weights over your head and touch each ends for your shoulders? Also there is a machine that works shoulders where you hold each bar in your hands and there are padded bars that you use your arms/shoulders to raise. Sorry don't know the name of that... But that is suppose to work your shoulders.

I'v been told by rev8ball that the lat exercises are more for shaping than strength. Don't get too hung up on the quantity there. For sure don't injure the rotator cuffs.

There is an old theory on lifting weights, I'm quoting loosely here; "Barbell for size, dumbbell for shape". You might want to try the Military press with the barbell. You should gain size, especially with all that protein. Lateral raises are a hard exercise to go up in weight. I've been working out for a while, and still only do 30's. Keep at it, it'll come together.
