Hi, to everybody here and good luck with your training. I'm about to start this training simply becuase I need some activity to keep me busy along with trying to stay fit. Ii play basketball twice a week but I wanted to see if I can keep myself in some sort of training program :) Now my question is that I don't have a barbell on dumbells and I noticed that on the training program they set for me it has exercises with barbells. If I only do the dumbell and not the barbell excercises how much will this affect my training? Thanks in advace :)

Welcome to ft! If you only have a set of dumbbells, you'll find that you won't be able to lift as much as if you were using a barbell. This is because you use your individual stabilizer muscles lifting the dumbbells and one side could give out before the other. However, when you lift using the barbell, the stronger side could compensate for this.

Nonetheless, I still prefer working more with free weights than machines.

Good luck to you and keep us posted of your progress. Oh, and please fill in your profile when you get the chance and let us know what your goals are and your current training regimen. That way, we'll be able to give better advice in the future.
