Well first of all guys I am a complete beginner. Me and my girlfriend have decided we want to look and feel better physically and are really motivated to do so. So first off since we know almost nothing about how to start training and eating right we went to GNC to ask about supplements and vitamins , since she used to take diet pills and lost weight. The manager there told us about how he lost a lot of weight by eating right running and taking a "fat burner", I guess you would call it, called REVxp. We also purchased vitamins for each of us, mine are called GNC's Mega Men, which I take twice a day. Oh and we were directed to take 2 pills a day of the REVxp for starters and then bump it up to 4 after a week or so. Does anyone know anything about this supplement? I have read on other forums that it worked for a lot of people, oh well we can take it back if it doesn't.

Ok well as far as IM concerned I would like to start out by losing the spare tire wrapped around my stomach. I would also like to bulk up some in my upper body. I understand that I might not be able to lose weight i.e. spare tire while bulking up good at the same time, so I would like to try to develop a 6-pack first then keep my fat off and then bulk up. Sound good? I guess you need to know my profile. I am about 5' 8" or maybe 9" (have not checked in a long time). I weigh 163 lbs. I really do not have much fat anywhere but my stomach. I think I am too skinny everywhere else on my body, it's funny because so does my mom and grandma who when I tell them I want to lose a little weight they act shocked and say you're to skinny already and then try and feed me, I guess that's there job though. Anyway like I said I still want to build good looking abs and maybe if possible put on some muscle mass upstairs.

My girlfriend and I have thrown away almost every fatty food we had, basically all of our refrigerator and pantry, then we went shopping. We bought a lot of fruits and vegetables, a lot of low or no fat stuff like mayo, butter, yogurt, bread, cheese, ranch dressing. A lot of what we used to eat but a lot less fat. I also bought a lot of tuna and chicken since I like them a lot and they are healthy. We are now eating 5-6 small meals a day and maybe our dinner is just a little bigger portioned. I have recently given my personal profile to this site and decided to start the fat loss and definition training as a beginner. I do not do the exact weight lifting exercises specified in my plan because of lack of equipment. I do however work the same muscles on alternating days with the same amount of reps specified. I also have been doing cardio workouts, I am going to do 30 minutes or more 7 days a week. For instance yesterday I jog/speed walked 3 miles, trying to jog as much as I could. The two days before yesterday I spent 30 minutes on an elliptical machine, trying to go with as much resistance and speed as I could keep up with for the half hour. So now I just have some nutritional questions. My nutritional profile was as follows for yesterday:

Calories- daily target=3,257 my intake=1,182
Carbohydrates- daily target=570.5g my intake=199.6g
Protiens- daily target=163.0g my intake=72.2g
Fats- daily target=39.8g my intake=10.6g

I had eaten 5 meals that I thought was plenty of food although I was still a bit hungry. This chart shows I am not getting enough of anything. I just don't see how eating this much will help me lose the weight I want to lose. Should I follow this chart to achieve my goals? Also maybe Im not doing enough cardio or even the right kind. What are some really good cardio workouts to burn the fat? Should I be on the elliptical machine for longer or with more resistance? Or should I use something else altogether? I feel I am in enough shape to do longer cardio workouts. I don't want to push myself to hard but I really want to sweat it out if you know what I mean. As I said Im a beginner so if anyone with experience on what Im trying to do can give me some advice it would be VERY much appreciated.

Thank you very much - Josh

I'm not going to say anything about the weight training since I don't do it but as for the nutrition "guide" I can't eat nearly what it says I should, I do keep my calories around 1500 and my fat as low as I can, this seems to be working just fine for me combined with my work out, daily vitamins and I take Xenadrine EFX, haven't heard of the one you are taking. At any rate as long as you are eating well, and getting enough vitamins/protien you should see results pretty soon!

wow, i'm about the same height/weight as you and am doing the same plan (however intermediate level) and my calories are limited to about 2500. from what i've heard, the main thing to really focus on is protein and water. ofcourse, eat and get some calories and carbs but i've been told (by a trainer) to really focus on drinking lots of water and getting lots of protein. correct me if i'm wrong guys....
as for the fat grams, my limit is around 30g/day and i always go over. i should work on that:dumbbell:
