Hi all,
I was wondering if anyone had a good website or some good solid info on heart rates to accomplish specific goals (cardio, fat loss mainly) and a formula that takes in consideration age.
Thanks in advance.

Here you are....
220 minus your age. That will give your max HR.
Work up to about 65-85% of your max and thats a good cardiovascular workout. The weight loss will come from a calorie deficit.
Hope this helps you.

See I have always heard that, but lately in a few places I read that the fat loss range is lower than cardiovascular range. Even on the heartrate monitor I got, there is a chart that shows it as a lower section, but since it's a chart, I could not get exact values off it.

My trainer told me not to go to the high end if I want to burn fat. Sometimes I just don't get it. But it works.

what happens if you go over the 60-80% recommended range? is it bad for you then?

no...
What you all are talking about is the "percentage" of calories burned...
I recently read up on this and what you'll find is that if you burn in the higher range, you will burn more calories but perhaps and equal or slightly lesser percentage of that will be fat (meaning you're burning more protein and/or carbs).
However, as you probably know, the metabolism is gradually kicked higher with the faster heart rate, thereby burning longer, and for long after, you've left the gym.
