I usually do Bar Squats. Does any one have experience with the Hack Squat machine ? Is it good to use when mixing things up ? Pros ? Cons ? As always I appreciate the input.

I now do it with barbells instead of squats....definitely puts more emphasis on quads than deads but it's still not quite the same as squats....is it good for a change? yes it is....but i wouldnt use a machine, i would use a barbell...

It's about as good as a leg press......easy to load up a ton and go to town...try doing anything close to that with a barbell...not only that but grip becomes an issue as well...

I appreciate the info menace. I have tried it a few times in the past and it seemed to hit the legs a hell of a lot more than leg presses, but I will take your advice and stick with squat variations with a bar.

Look up free-weight hacks. These make me want to puke after a few good sets. I never got comfortable with my knees on the sled. I haven't the same problem with free weight hacks. It is a little awkward at first but that soon passes.
Hey Menace and Wrestler, I've been gone for a bit. My Dad just passed away a few weeks ago (Alzheimers). It's been a tough past few months, but I'm on the move again. I've only lost 7-8 of the pounds I gained. I lost alot of strength though. Amazing how quickly it goes. My motivation went negative, in fact I felt physically depleted. It was strange. I was not tired but the body wasn't interested in intensity.

2F sorry to hear about your dad passing away....it must be a very trying time for you and your family. Wish you all the best.
Start lifting again...you'll feel much better....perhaps the break was a good thing for you.....maybe now you'll go on a lifting streak when you get back to it....muscle memory is a beautiful thing....
