Ever wonder how that food is affecting your energy level? Is it made up of fast or slow cabs? I recently learned in my cardio quest for knowledge that one can make some assessments of the speed of food affecting your energy level based on the index that Diabetics use - "The Glycemic Index'.
I found a pretty easy to use listing at:

The gist is, foods with a lower score raise your blood sugar level faster than those with a higher number.
The number says or implies NOTHING about the health of the food so you still want to make sure you are eating clean (watching sat. fat, protein, carbs, and calories) but this is a great way to see what is going to make a difference.
There are a lot of dimensions, for lack of a better word, to this and it warrants some thought - especially if your blood sugar is something to be watched. It's a tool though!

Do you use it for "quick" energy in your fitness activities as well? If you don't mind me asking, what have you found that works really well?

I just stumbled upon this post (very weird that its exactly two years to the day that it was actually posted) I digress.....
This post seems backwards to me. From what I have read, the lower glycemic score raise your blood sugar level slower than the higher making the lower GI rating better. This as written in many other posts depends upon many different factors but I just wanted to clarify on the original post.
