Well, I injured my knee about 2 months ago and have been 'out of commission' until now. I have been going stir crazy and just got the go ahead from my doc that I can start working out again. Only problem is he said no running, no squats, no lunges or any other exercise that will put strain on my knee until I can build my quad strength back up. I have about 20 - 30 pounds to lose, inches to lose and really need to firm up thighs, gluts and abs. I was doing my fitness program before my injury that included a lot of squats and lunges for legs and gluts, but now that that is ruled out, what else is there? Any advice is much appreciated. Thanks.

I would think you could still work your upper body and probably calves. Did he mean absolutely no leg work? Or just start out light? Maybe some squats with a swiss ball and no weight and not go done so far? I had an abdominal surgery in Jan and had to stay away from the gym for 5 weeks and then start back light and easy. I started walking on the treadmill a lot at first to get my strength back. I found out that almost all exercises put some strain on your abs since they are stabilizers, but I hung in there and really got back to where I had been in the fall pretty quickly, about 2 months I think. It will be frustrating, but hang in there.
