My problem is that I have a belly that I hate and want to get rid of. However, i'm thin (I lift, so I have some muscle, but Ive always lifted more for health than bulking) and I don't want to lose weight anywhere else on my body because I fear looking skinny. Of course, we all know spot reduction doesn't exist. My idea was to meet with a personal trainer and have them evaluate my BF% and tell me what the best approach would be: to burn fat, or to bulk up so that i will have more mass and not have to fear looking skinny before cutting. i really want to lose my belly first, but not at the expense of losing all fat on my body. I was actually considering mesotherapy (lipo alternative), which is pretty desperate for me.
I guess my questions after this long rant are:
1.How can i find a respectable and effective PT?
@. What would you recommend I do?

I think your worrying to much. Most people would think that small toned arms are more atractive than larger fatty arms.
put muscle on your arms not fat. but to do this you will have to keep your tummy for a while. you wont add quality mass whilst dieting.

You can lift 'till the cows come home but if you don't eat correctly your not going to get anywhere, may even be hurting more than helping.
Take some time and read up on how to diet and lose that belly while maintaining what muscle you have. When you get to the desired BF%, begin dieting to gain muscle. Wouldn't do no meso or lipo, PT is up to you, but most of what they're going to tell you can be found here.

I have no fat on my arms, only muscle. But, for example, i don't want my face to look emaciated or my legs to look too thin. that's the stuff i worry about. it would take upwards of 6-12 months to put on quality mass, as where it would take significantly less time to lose the belly. My fear is losing a healthy look along with the belly.

Take my advice, read "diet thread" in the specific diet and nutriion forum along with "grocery list for healthy eating". You'll see how it works, you can lose the belly without fear of looking unhealthy. Trust me, it's been proven to work. Good luck bro!
