I have a two-part question. I know that nothing is as good as eating the right foods; however, is it okay to make supplements such as protein shakes, MRP, and such, fifty-percent of your nutrientional intake? Secondly, what is the latest you should eat if you are trying to build muscle and lose a little weight? I am finding very hard to eat all of this food that I am supposed to be eating. It has been calculated that I should be taking in 2500-3000 calories a day, but I am so used to taking in about 500.

When you can not cope with your diet, you r saposed to look at supps.Go for lo fat meal replacement shakes.Proteins r also good.
My favorite is creatine, if you want to gain muscles and lose fat.
Go for a two months creatine programme......
best of luck

Thank you uttiya, but i have one question about creatine. I was reading an article from a sports medicine doctor that said taking creatine when you want to lose weight is like taking a shower with a raincoat on. ???

Fifty percent may be O.K. as long as the other half isnt like McDonalds. You know what i mean. Instead of three meals a day packed with protein and your 2500-3000 cal. Try like five or six meals a day, try to have three of them solid foods high in protein and nutrients (i usually grill enough chicken and steak for a week so i can just nuke it) then inbetween them have a shake or bar and maybe a mild snack.(mixed nuts taste good, keep intake lower due to fat though) Try to have something about every 2 and a half hours or so. Remember food 30-60 min before workout and then a shake after. Hopefully this will all help. As for the creatine question i have heard that statement before, but im not swung. Creatine will just allow for more water to enter muscles, which in fact is more weight but not fatty weight. Just do mild cardio before you lift if you want. -snow

erin4ever1990..

500 cals is too little for gaining any muscle. Your cal intake will depend on the speed of your metabolism - if it is slow then it whould be higher. For muscle gains, you must follow your protein intake which ft gave you.

And I would not have 50% of shakes as your diet, take 1 shake right after your wrokout - that's it. And eat until about 60-90 minutes prior to sleep.. perhaps egg whites or a tuna sandwhich.

Good Luck.
