Hello, I'm 15 years old, almost 16 and I'm looking to join my school's varsity football team. American Football that is. I have played JV, but I'm working out to get stronger to compete on the varsity level. I Currently am in Track to start my conditioning, and have been going to the weight room since around the start of this year. I'm looking to become a running back. Anyways my question is, is protein going to help me during this, I have been taking a protein shake every other day after working out for about 2-3 weeks.
My max bench is currently 185, and squat is about 280. I am also looking to gain more muscle mass. I weigh 165, and am about 6 ft tall. I'm not sure about taking creatine as I hear after i stop taking it i will lose the muscle. I want to find a good workout routine, and diet that will help me get stronger and faster throughout the summer until football . Thanks :)

Honestly when I was your age, which wasn't that long ago I didn't need any kind of supplements. Just train right and eat well. Without getting too technical, eat 5-6 meals a day. Get as much protein as you can just by eating normal meats. If this is your first time lifting, you should see pretty big gains by the time training camp rolls around in august. What does your current workout program look like. Alot of people here are very smart and can really help getting you the best possible workout routine to follow!

I try to have breakfast in the morning before school at home, I try to eat a bowl of Go-Lean which has 10g protein. If not i will have a little something at school. Most days i will workout before lunch, then drink a protein shake(52 grams). Then I will have lunch there, after school i will have a snickers marathon bar 22 grams protein. After track I will have a good dinner and try to get a lot of steak. Then before bed I have a small meal.
I Lifted at the starting of the school year, stopped for a while and restarted after winter.
When I workout I used to start with 35's and do 12, then 10 of 40's, then 401/2's. then 4-6 45's. Now I started doing about 8-10 45's. If im feeling it i will do 6-8 again. Then 50's and do as many as i can. On days im not benching I usually do triceps and shoulders since bench benefits from it. I've got really good biceps so I usually just have a small workout with them on bench days. Maybe once a week I will squat, but I try not to much because of track. I'm also trying to gain about 20-28 pounds(safely) by football season, I currently weigh 164.
Help Very appreciated. thanks to you that have replied :)

If I was you I would use the tool on this website and it will create a custom workout for you to follow. Just input the right info and the goals you are looking to acheive and go from there.

you should deffinatly get a good work out plan you dont want to just work a couple muscle's also squats are very good for a football player same with cleans I dont know what postion you are planing on playing but if you are going for a rb or wr you should jump rope alot. we always had to do over 80 reps in a min. it helps alot man. you should also go to as many camps as you can.
