Ok, here's where i'm at. When i was a little kid, i was super fit. I was always running around outside and playing sports. But ever since around age 11 when my parents divorced, i've been very sendentary. I've never gotten "fat" but i put on some flab/chub/whatever you want to call it and i've just never gotten back to the "fit" me. And finally, at 24 years old, i've gotten to the point where i'm determined to find that active, healthy girl that i know is inside me somewhere.
Along with wanting to feel better about my looks, i'm wanting to have more energy to function in life. As it is now, my body requires at least 9 hours of sleep every night or i just feel like crap the next day. And even with 9 hours of sleep, i'm pooped by 9:00 in the evening. It's horrible. It'd be nice to have the energy to go out to dinner or to the mall in the evening after work. But as it is, i just want to sit on the couch and do nothing. And i sit in front of a computer all day at work - it's not like i have a strenuous job!
So i'm wondering where to go from here. I've already changed my diet so i'm eating healthy and eating plenty (i'm on the south beach diet), plus i take a slew of vitamins/supplements everyday. But that alone is not helping the energy problem. So it looks as though i need to add exercise back in (something i haven't done regularly in YEARS). So i guess my question is this:
For someone like me who hasn't exercised regularly in 13 years...what should i do and what should i expect? Everyone says how exercising gives you more energy...but everytime i try, it just wears me out! Is it just going to take my body awhile to adjust or what? I started out trying to do Curves (strength training) 3 days a week and cardio (on a rebounder) on the other 4 days, but that was obviously too much. Any advice/encouragement would be greatly appreciated!! I feel so hopeless right now :(
