I just got the Sharper Image Elliptical Machine (so it's more like you're swinging your legs vs. stepping) and I was wondering if there is a right and wrong way of using it? It feels like I working the right muscles but I'm not sure. Advice anyone?

As long as it's getting your heart-rate up and you don't have any pain or discomfort when using it, I can't imagine you're doing anything wrong. Keep in mind that even "working the right muscles" won't build any new muscle since it's a non-stressful cardiovascular exercise.

Okay, thank you!! I just wanted to make sure that I wasn't going to hurt myself. I'm not wanting to build any new muscle, just trying to get some type of exercise. Thank you again!

I can go both ways on my elliptical trainer. Can you do that? First it feels rather funny but you really get a great work out out of it!

The one that I have just swings...I figured that I better get the cheaper one first before I invest in a better one just in case I flake out of exercising...I usually lose interest within a month or so. So far I'm enjoying the workout I get, not to strenuous, but still I'm doing something.
