Because of a change in my schedule working out in the late afternoon is no longer an option and have to work out early so I can be consistent. My workouts now take place at about 5 a.m. :( What should I do as far as eating goes before working out keeping in mind that I am only up for about 15 to 20 minutes before working out. My goal is building lean muscle and losing some fat.

Thanks for the input

Hey there j_dino, If you only have 15-20 min. before you workout i would mix a cup of oatmeal and some natty pb into a shake chug it and go, it'll give you some good carbs and protein, you could even throw a scoop of protein in there as well for some extra protein. Good Luck

I don't know if the oatmeal/ PB will be digested quick enough if you only have 20 minutes before you workout.
I would think that you will need something high GI, so that the energy is in your bloodstream in time for your workout. If you look in the cardio qustions thread at the top, BB1 gives some info about digestion times of various foods (the post is near the end of the thread). Look for something quick digesting.

I don't know if even a carb drink or a whey drink would be useful in these circumstances?

I usually have a o%fat yogurt with fruit before my workout.
Presently, I am on a cutting program, and it's working for me.
