hi.
i am 15 years old and am a very active athlete. at age 12 i started lifting weights (not like bodybuilding but using around 15 -20 pnd dumbells and doing biceps, shoulders, chest, etc... the main muscles. i also am into long distance running and have been doing that since i was 10 or 11. I am concerned with my height at 5'3 (105 pnds) at 15 years old. is it possible that with lifting weights at 12 (but it wasnt extremely intense) i have stunted my growth, or do u think i am just a late bloomer??? any input would be greatly appreciated
thanks

chances are your just a 'late bloomer'. there isnt any conclusive evidence that weight or resistance training causes growth to cease or slow down. what height are your parents?
-------------- todays post was bought to you by the letter A.
youve got balls of big steel
cha-mone motha hubbard, big up ya bad self, etc etc
i like honeydew melon

well if your parents are tall your probably a late bloomer, if their short your just small by genes :)
From 13-15 I shoot up and came out from short to average, then I stopped growing after that. When I came to college I saw all these guys who was shorter than me when we were 15-16 towering over me :)

kd, it's really important that you eat enough, especially if you long ditance run - make sure there is enought energy left to grow after you've done all that running.
Oh! and welcome to FT :)

Hi kd, welcome to FT... Also make sure you get enough rest / sleep. I've read several times that these stages are the ones when our bodies grow the most.
Hope this helps.
