So, I know how to workout. I know how and what to eat. What I do not know is how to make myself do it anymore. Do not get me wrong, I love and live for the weight lifting. But since I lost my job in july, even though I try hard, I eat like crap. It is just plain easier to eat a bunch of hot dogs then find the time to cook chicken and rice. It is not like I do not want to get myself in better shape. It is hard to do so when my first duty is caring for my boys, then my wife and then if there is time and I have the energy me. My wife does more than her share as well. I have depression, I am on meds for it and thankfully so as it is also curbing my hunger. But a side effect of my depression is a very lethargic personality. Combine that with the stress of money and not having a job not olny is my workouts hurting but so is my marriage. I feel so angry al the time I just want to leave and run away. But then I see my wife and sons with out me and that cures that. I just needed to vent thanks for listening.

Mutt, I totally understand. I have SAD, and right now it is really difficult for me to even get up and go to work in the morning. To top it all off, we are stuggling financially too, so I know what it's like. Something that helps me, is seeing my family on the weekends. The more loved you feel by other people, the more you tend to want to love yourself. I hope things get better for you soon Mutt, and I will keep you in my thoughts and prayers!

Mutt, is there anybody in the area where you live that likes training? Maybe they would love to work out with you. Sometimes a partner will also be a good friend not to say your wife isn't your partner, but someone to train with. Even if you squeeze the training in. And what about one body part a day, it only takes an hr.
And like Cristal said, loved ones are a great help. Invite them over or go see them.

Mutt, I can understand completely. I have suffered with crippling depressions since I was a kid. Like yourself, I am now on medication and doing much better. Now, as to what you're going through...working out may not be all you need. You might want to find someone to talk to in your area. I know there are mental health services who let you pay on a sliding scale. Once, when out of work I only paid $12 a session. I always thought of my depressions like an ocean wave. I could see them coming and could ride them out. Let me know if there's anything else I can do.
