Hey everyone.. I was wondering if anyone could give me some ideas for controlling cravings.
I am trying to cut down on the amount I eat durring the day, but these cravings are killing me.
I realized that's where I get most of my calories durring the day is my snaking throughout the day.
Any Helo would be wonderful.
Thanks

First of all I have found its best to turn these snaks into structured meals with no more than 3 hours in between. If you find yourself getting a craving for food before the three hours is up then have a cup of green tea(no sugar)& possibly some gum, this will usually get you to your next meal. Personally sometimes I'll have to catch mself & not forget when its time to eat! Another aspect to consider is the source of carbohydrates that your consuming, if the carbs are simple & to high of a gycemic index than the feeling of hunger will come on alot sooner. Have a great day & good luck with the dieting!

Oh my.. well cravings... Mostly. I get the sweet attack, where I dive into the cookies and peanut butter.
Then sweets, chewy sour candies.. I keep a tin around.. but I only try and eat one a day.. just to keep the cravings down..
But the worst is the bread cravings... it drives me nuts. All I want is a loaf of bread, not just a piece, a LOAF. ^_^
I guess that's a good explanation of how I feel..
Oh and Patrick.. Thanks maybe I'll try that. I'm a big fan of green tea, and Iced Green tea (made myself). So that should be an easy one to try.

Hmmm I can't think of a good alternative to a loaf of bread, haha. Maybe oatmeal, it expands to be a LOT of food when you cook it, I always put in about twice as much water as it suggests to make it puff up more. add a little fruit and splenda and that could also help those sweet cravings. I'll also sometimes eat a part (small part) of a good protein bar to help those cravings, but usually only in case of an "emergency"...
Also try sugar free jello, plain fruit, or an apple with some peanut butter...
You may find that you're not actually having cravings for particular foods but you're in fact just plain hungry. That was the case with me for a while, I tried to eat too little. Definitely try eating several small meals a day and make sure you eat enough. good luck.
