I'll try this here. I'm 20 years old, 215lbs, 6'1. My goals are to lose body fat while working with weights and cardio. Once I'm down to an acceptable BF%, I'll start going for gains, but right now I've got enough fat on me that I wouldn't see them.
I'm looking for someone to act as an on-line workout partner...share workouts, motivation, results, etc. If you've got goals like mine, or just need a helping hand, I'd like to set something up. I'm just learning, so whatever your level of knowledge is cool.
Let me know,

I'd suggest trying to Gain the muscle before you try and lower your BF%, because to gain mass you must eat more food and with the gains in muscle you also gain some fat, not to much but you won't see your abs or be as cut as you would like. Just try to eat healthy but a large ammount of protein. then once you think you have put on the ammount of muscle you want then start to lean down. Just a suggestion, rather then leaning down --> Bulking up --> leaning down again. This site has lots of great info if you keep to your workout plan and have questions come ask them here or search through previous posts it can help you out quite a bit. I had worked out for a few years before i came here and i've learned alot since commin to this site, its great.

I'm eating as well as I know how, and I'm working my muscles hard. I'm going more for progressive gains, but my main concern is losing bodyfat right now. Thanks for your input tho :)

Hixie...I don't know if I agree with you to gain first. For many the lack of appearance could be a deterent and watching the measurements and scales go down motivates them...those changes in physical and mental appearance are key measuring points in short term goals.
sailor...go with a clean diet, weight training and cardio (in that order of importance). Inevitably after a few weeks or a month you will start to put on muscle and burn fat fairly quickly at first, then it'll start to slow down, in which case is a good time to start looking at what point you want to start gaining.
Do you currently know what your BF% is? If not then you can get it here, but it's not based on many factors and the accuracy of it has yet to be determined. I would suggest going to www.mybodycomp.com (think it's www.fittogether.com now) and you can put in your measurements and track it (none of these are ever 100% accurate, just good indicators), but it will store your measurements so you can tell changes and as long as the BF% is going down then you're headed in the right direction.
If you're looking for someone to act as an online workout partner then you've already found someone...infact several someones. That's what freetrainers is. We work together to keeping eachother motivated, as well as giving advise, and educating anyone who is willing to learn.
The best thing I found when I started was to verbalize what my goals were, I did it here, I did it at home and at work and everywhere...everyone knew my goal. After that my pride kind of took over and wouldn't let me fail...I'm all the better for it today.
