I know that the optimal heart rate issue has been discussed a lot, but after reading some older threads, I'd like another opinion if possible.
Just some info to start: I'm a 16 year-old girl, I'm 5'1", I weigh about 125-7ish lbs., and I'd like to be around 110-115 lbs.
Most sites I've been to say that, in order to burn the most fat from your workout, you should be at 70% of your max. heart rate; for me, that's about 143bpm. I can exercise at this rate comfortably; I still sweat and feel challenged to a point, but I almost don't feel like I'm not doing enough.
Other sites, such as this one (http://exercise.about.com/cs/cardioworkouts/l/aa022601a.htm), say that a higher intensity workout is better. They argue that, even though a lower percentage of fat calories is burned when compared to a lower intensity workout, you burn more calories in total this way, which is more important for weight loss.
So....who do I listen to??
