Hi,
I have a cold and feel terrible, when I try to do anything cardio I have a coughing fit and can't breathe. I have had so many conflicting comments on this it's not funny. Do I keep trying and make the best of a bad situation? Or do I give it a rest for a bit and just do strength training? I feel generally lazy if I don't have my cardio workout.

Any advice would be fantastic.

I suppose if it's a cold and not the flu or something more serious, I would sweat it out... but, since you can't breathe and have the coughing fits, I'd say maybe just wait it out a few days...

Someone correct me if I'm wrong!

yea, I try to do the same thing. If I get sick, I'll try to hit the gym hard. Then do a crazy cardio session with warm-up pants and a sweatshirt on. But if you can't breathe, you gotta stop. When it gets serious like that, you gotta let up.

Thanks guys,
Im going to do a little bit, it's hard here at the moment anyway. Winter sucks! Seriously thinking of joining a gym just to be able to workout indoors. I can still walk and ride when the weather lets up, it's the jogging I can't do.

basic rule of thumb - if you're ill from the neck up e.g. sore throat, cold etc, you can train. If you're ill from the neck down eg chest infection don't train
