Ok here's my question. 4 years ago I lost nearly 40 pounds putting me at a comfortable 157. I have been able to keep that off through diet. I recently decided to get my lazy butt up (I am 35) and start to exercising to lose body fat..I have Joined a Circuit training gym for men and lost 3% down from 21% to 18%. Good, but I have gained about 5 lbs (it doesn't feel or look like muscle, ya know what I'm sayin'?) and am still not losing the slight "ring around the gut". I am even doing the full circuit 3 times a day 4 days a week. I haven't changed my diet.

What does the circuit involve? How long does it last? 3 times a day, 4 times a week sounds like it might be over doing it.

I'd take a closer look at your diet.

If your losing body fat and still gaining weight then whether you think it is or not you are gaining muscle. As you know muscle weighs more than fat. If you are seeing good improvements in what you are doing, continue. If your not then as london said check your diet. In my opinion free weights are much better for beginners then circuits are.
