Quick question last night i did my chest, and i went heavy on it i lifted more than usual (or tried to) i got to failure relatively quick had a spotter and stuff. then lowered my weights So i could do more reps (like 8). And this morning my shoulders/tri's hurt and don't really feel it in my chest. Is that somewhat normal? I did shoulders on monday. I think my chest will hurt later on this afternoon. Any advice on what it could be. its not a bad pain but kinda the pain you get post workout..

What exercises were you doing for your chest workout?

The only thing I can think of offhand is you're doing too much weight and not in porper form. Push out on a count of two and down on a count of 4. This will REALLY work you hard. Speed will work against you by making you break proper form and work more of your tris, instead of your pecs. Make sure you're doing a full range of motion. (all the way down, all the way up)

Try a weight you can do 10-15 reps of instead and make sure you do proper form. Try 3 sets of inclined and 3 sets of declined bench, with a short rest inbetween each set.

Be aware of hand spacing on the bench the closer your hands are together the more relative stress it puts on your tris...try a spacing shoulder width or wider....also pay attention to where the bar touches your chest if your hitting next to your clavicle your to high...aim for the general nipple area. Make sure you touch your chest as well...the bottom 1/4 of the bench is where it is mostly chest involvement. If you still cant feel it then throw in some dumbells. Hope some of this helps.
