Well I'm nearly there to 40!!!

So now on the eliptical and bike I can do my interval training and get 163 beats per minute. According to our life fitness machines in my UK gym 162 is either 80% or 100% of my max. I'm not sure which exactly.
These teens and twinks can get a bpm of 180 ???

So I'm nearly 40 fittish, resting beat is 54 to 56 ... So now I'm at 162 bpm pushing the boat out- How much further can I go? What is too much?

Heres the formula, which you might already know:

220- 40 (your age)= 180 (max hr)at 85% of your mac your at 153, so, if your at 162. which is 90%, I would suggest you back it off a bit if you are trying to gain muscle.
