hey i hate cardio but i realize i have to do it to lose all my fat. i have 11% body fat now and since i stopped cardio it hasn't gone up or down but i want to be at least 7-9% for like late june early july i dont know how long it will take but i lose like 2-3 pounds a week when i do cardio im not fat at all but i always lose fat never muscle. anyways instead of doing like all my cardio at once, can i do like 10 mins before i lift, then 10 minutes like half way in between then 10 mins after i finish lifting? i did the hit method but i couldn't even stand 20 minutes of it. and i plan on doing cardio everyday at the gym not outdoors because i don't have time to go to the gym lift then go for a run right after or before.

The problem I see is with the 10 mins. in between lifting. You don't want cardio to deplete your glycogen stores which takes away your lifting ability. Actually, your entire cardio routine should be done afterwards. You'll find that you may not be able to sustain an entire 20 or even 30 minutes of HIIT. However, you're better off doing this afterwards so as not to take anything away from your lifting.

Actually they talk about that in this months' muscle media and they said that when subjects performed two 15 minute cardio exercises(one iin morning one at night) it was much more effective than one 30 minute cardio excercise at once. I beleive it is because when you do cardio it elevates your metabolism a few hours afterward, lets just assume maybe 2 hours. Doing two sets of 15 minute cardio would give you 2 hours elevated metabolism in the morn and two hours at night for a total of 4 hours elevated which is much more effective than just 2 hours of elevated metabolism from one thirty minute cardio. Note: I am not sure if the metabolism actaully stays elevated for 2 hours after a cardio workout( it may be 3 or 4) but you get the point.

There's also a very interesting article on aerobic (cardio) and anaerobic (weight training) activities in last month's issue of T-Mag (I believe it was called Meltdown training or something like that). If you get the chance, read that article!

From my own experiences doing cardio proir to weight training has affected my lifting. I feel more burned up and lack the intensity to train hard with the weights. Krismike has a good point aswell, I have heard about this technique and beleive it depends on your body type on how effective it can be. I hate cardio too, but I work through it by switching up machines ect. I will start myabe with the bike for 10, then hit the stairmaster or eliptical for another 10. I also find if I can locate a good book or a sweet magazine it helps me struggle through it. GOOD LUCK!
