With such a topic so broad we truly try to cover the basics from all angles in this group. Nothing too big or too small. Nutrition is as significant if not more as exercise is to reaching your goals so learn all you can.
This may be a really dumb question.
I read an article today that says you can do cardio with weights if you keep your rate above 65%. Would this then eliminate the worry that your body would use muscle tissue for energy since your acually building those muscles?
Would this be an effective way to do cardio, especially if you were concerned with lowering your body fat level?
I don't have cardio equipment and as of the last 10 weeks I have been running for cardio. It's kind of boring, and I'm concerned about losing muscle tissue.
Is it suggested to run at a slower pace for a longer period of time (3-4 miles) or run at a faster pace for a moderate period of time(1-2 miles). I am interested in decreasing body fat. I lift weights 4 times a week.
I would just run. I think using weights while doing cardio(those little hand weights joggers use comes to mind and or ankle weight) puts way to much stress on the joints(elbows wrists, ankles, knees etc). Just lift hard eat, drink, sleep right and do the cardio!
