I am wondering if I do cardio (45-60 minutes treadmill between 4.5 mph and 5.0 mph incline of 2.0 - 4.0) 4-5 times a week and also integrate in weight training 3 days a week, doing one muscle group once a week only, is it possible to cut excess weight and at the same time build lean muscle mass. I am being very diligent on my calorie intake and am trying to stay around 1500 so as to be able to cut some weight. I am 5'6" and currently 200. I lifted in school and after, so I am a little bigger than most guys my size. I would like to cut about 20 - 30 lbs and get back into the great shape I had been in. Does this seem like a realistic plan using the above mentioned system? By the way, I am using the Tone and Weight loss plan offered by Freetrainers.com, so any inuput from anyone would be appreciated and listened too. Thanks in advance.

gbass442,
Listen, if you are doing cardio 4 times a week and weight lifting 3 times a week , then YOU NEED to have slightly more calorie intake than 1500, or your body will begin to use what muscle it has as fuel, and eventually you'll burn out. More importantly, you'll have more body fat than you started out with, and less muscle to burn it. Seek a personal trainer out in your gyms, (one w/ nutritional sense)you should be around 2000 calories just by looking at your weight and activity level, but I don't know your body fat level, so fill out your profile so the moderators can help you out. Good luck!
