Just a quick question. Is it normal to have a burning sensation in the knees when working the legs? Activity such as leg extensions, leg press, etc...etc...?

Does the weight feel heavy or like is it not a lot of weight. Check your form and use proper weight, DO NOT LIFT TO HEAVY, then more will burn then your knee. First we need to see if this burning happends, do you have heavy weight (lifting hard) or light weight (does it burn just on movement) -snow

The weight is very light at times, but still burns after so many reps. Heavy weights have the exact burn effect. It is mostly with leg extensions. I believe my form is proper.

Burning can be caused by a pinched nerve. Do your toes feel numb? Do you have lower back spasms a day or two after your leg workouts? The important thing is to stretch. While doing a LIGHT stretch massage the muscle; this will help to losen the muscle, tendons, ligaments, and facia of the affected area. Where exactly in you knee does the burn happen? Is it at the top portion in your quadriceps? If so, then it's a normal burn from working out. This burn won't be as irritating if your warm your muscles up on a bike or tread mill for 10 minutes. Try these techniques and let me know how it works.

Thanks sandman, I will do that and also pay close attention to where exactly the burning is. I think it is on the top portion of the knee, but not really for sure.

Rule of thumb is not to train thru pain with your knees. There are too many tendons, ligament, and other soft tissue to injure that will only be further aggravated by further training. Do the RICE/NSAID trip for 2 weeks and if your knee still hurts with activity then see a specialist and have a picture taken to evaluate any tissue injuries before continuing your training.
