I finally decided to join the gym to put on some muscle and reduce the flab from the stomach and my thighs. I wanted to whether any person can get muscular..atleast a bit..and out of curiosity how many months before i begin to see the effect ?..btw i am male,5'9,69kgs. My tummy is now 36 inch..when i suck it in it becomes 34 inch so will working with weights and machines make my tummy firmer and reduce inches so that it doesn't bulge ?and also i have fat on my thighs..will that also be reduced my lifting weights and working with machines ?
i remember eminen(the rapper) and how thin he was,but now he has got muscular(and i think it didn't take much time too, just a few months)..thats why i am motivated to join the gym since before i thought only few types of people can build muscles.

I am eagerly waiting for you replies..and yes i sound coufused!

Well, I'm not expert - but I can share my experiences so far.

I have/had a similar body type - an inch shorter than you and I started at around 32-33" waist. I started the FT programs in mid-December. I have been working out hard since then - I mean 250%. I definitely could do much better on my diet.

Every month, I take a photo of myself. Do this. It may be the only way to see some real subtle changes.

I could see very subtle things changing in about a month. Fat moving around, if you will. After 2 months - no real noticeable difference from the 4 week point except some additional tone in the shoulders. I am seeing some difference in the mid-section now. I think it's all finally, just now, STARTING to come together.

So - I don't know. But I hit the gym about 5 times a week and work out for a couple hours and that's my timeline so far. Cardio seems to really be making the most difference in terms of fat loss for me, right now.

BTW - a million people will tell you that can't "spot" reduce flab from one section or another. It's a misconception and it's true - you can't. You gotta go for the whole package and cardio is the way to do it, IMO.

Good luck to you!
