I am 71 inches tall and I weigh 195 lbs. My BMI is 27 which basically suggests that I need to lose weight. The last time I had my body fat done I was somewhere between 10 and 12%. So basically I am confused. Am I a health risk because of my BMI? I dont really want to lose weight because I already think I am skinny enough. Any comments?

Hec, I asked BB1 the same in another post. He basically said that BMI charts dont take training athletes into account. Its more of an average joe kind of thing

I sort of thought that, but I wanted to be sure! I am a hypochondriac so stuff like that scares me. Thanks Charlie!

Personally, I don't put alot of faith into the BMI index. It is not built for athletes. For example, according to it, not only am I morbidly obese, but I should be walking around with a defibfillator because I'm about to drop dead at a moments notice.

It is better to do body fat testing, regular blood work, etc., to keep an eye on what's going on inside.
