I bet when you guys saw the subject heading you thought it was another post by The Guru didn't ya?
Hey bicep, I'm sorry. I meant to answer your question on the BCAAs in the reply I made on the trib but I forgot. They are branched chian amino acids and they are the building blocks of protein. They are essential for recovery and muscle growth/repair. Whey is a good source of BCAAs but you can also by BCAA supplements.

ok thanx I was actually thinkin` about HMB.

I was reading on the GNC site that there is no real benefit from using the amino acids since they are in food.

so does it make sense to use both whey and BCAA at the same time ?

Yeah bicep, I'm hip. I've read the same thing. Thy"ve gone in and out of vouge since at least the 70s. They seem to be making a come back right now though. It is interesting that FT suggests them as a supplement that you should take. I used to drink this foul tasting concoction made by Twin Labs in the 70s, so did everyone else who lifted at the time. Then someone said they were useless and most everyone stopped. I'm gonna see if I can find any info on why u should or shouldn'd use BCAA supplements. As far as the Guru I'm just having a little fun with the guy who keeps making posts like "Triceps extenstions are great." and Abs, they ain't no easy way to do them"

Bicep I have heard taking whey protein as a supplement might be a good sourse. If you eat alot of fish, and red meat they are there but there are foods that don't have all of the necessary amino's. Alot of vegetarians that I know are using protein as a supplement to gain some of the nutrients they are missing in their diets.
