There is nothing more rewarding than seeing the body change. I have spent years trying to get to a certain body shape/weight etc. I post a lot here spewingout advice. I thought I was all knowing on this subject. I was indeed humbled when i got here a year ago. It took me a while to realiz that though I did lift correctly I really had no clue what I was truly doing. I read listened and now a year later I am really seeing results. I learned that it is not really about the weight lifted but how you lift it. It is not about the numbers of reps used but how you use the reps. That realization alone is worth explaining. I had thought that I HAD to reach 10 reps (or any reps scheme) on each set. Yea I was stuck in the 3 sets of 10 reps land! Forsooth it took me many months to truly understand that it was ok to only reach 8 out of 10, as long as I strived to reach that 10 with all my might. Another realization I came to was that all these years I had gotten some what stronger but the weights I used were for the most part the same. I call this "spinning your wheels". We all have done this before. Afraid to fail is what causes this. I got over that and a whole new world of weight lifting has opened. I have friends family and strangers telling me how good I am doing. I see such a difference in how my clothes fit. This is becoming....Becoming is that state where all of a sudden you look in a mirrior and SEE the changes. You are blown away cause surely this is not the real you. You are a flabby person not this soon-to-be rock hard lifter peeking out. My lord this was fun to see. I went to get a tshirt on and the shoulders and arms were to small. This was a t-shirt that fit loosely a year ago. I dressed for work and could not tighten the belt enough to keep my pants hanging right. My shoes needed to be tied tighter. This is Becoming. Becoming means change get ready for it. For those here that want a quick scheme to get fit...the ab-crunch gazell glider richard simmions machine is almost ready for you. If you are not afraid to work hard, sweat, get hurt be left out, turn down cakes and such, then welcome to becoming! This is not for the faint of heart, if all you want to do is lift for health welcome, if what you want is a 6pac with out the work goodbye no room for you in Becoming 101. Allright, what do you got to do? Lift hard heavy and eat right. Your new quote is Eat more, Drink a lot and Lift harder than before!!!! Leave the BS about toning at the door, this is the realm of Dealifts, bent rows, Chins, Squats. If any of those scare you the kiddie gym is open. I am not making fun of those that have not tried them, I am not even making fun of those that will not try them. I just do not have time or energy to explain this to those that will not understand. You do. You know that in order to Become you need to deadlift, squat you need to WORK!!...At any given time there is a million books and infomercials about how youtoo can get fit in just 20 mins a week BS. Ladies, guys that is all CRAP!!! There is not shortcut to the world of Becoming. Well I hope this made some sense! Welcome and good luck!!!!

I know exactly what you mean, when I first started seeing changes I used to stare at my biceps and shoulders while I combed my hair or brushed my teeth - I couldn't believe they were mine!

Okay, sometimes I still do that... :)

I'm not as struck by the changes as I was a year ago but I still love seeing the muscles develop, I love making changes in my diet and exercise routine and actually being able to see my body change and respond. It is a true high!

<tears in my eyes> Great speech mutt. There is some fear in change. It is new and different and that can be a scary. I love what you said about form and reps. (I hope my husband reads this.)
