Could grass trimming with a weedeater be considered a substitute exercise for your back? It should be. Darn thing kills my back!

Actually, my forearms do more work than my back. And, on a hot day, feels like I've just done an hour of cardio with all that sweat!

Actually I have had three surgeries on my back and have always had a rough time with the trimmer. Hard to stand up straight afterwards, major stiffness the next day, etc. I did my weedeating the other day and had absolutely no problems, lots of strength stamina, etc. Amazing! Apparently these workouts I have been following have really paid off in a practical sense. I felt so good about it, standing up straight no pain and all, and while I was walking back to the tool shed patting myself on the back, I stepped in a frigging hole and heard every vertebrae in my back pop. I felt like an idiot. I swear sometimes I can't win for losing. Figured I would be down for at least 2weeks. Woke up the next day no problems. Again must be the workouts or my lucky day.

It's the workouts!! I've had a bad back all my life. When I went to get it x-rayed years ago the doctor came in to the room and said "Mr. Smith your back is not built like other peoples". Incourging words. Anyway he gave me a shot of steroids in the butt and gave me a bunch of exercises to do. The were pretty low rent exercises but I did them and evetually moved on to better ones (like the ones FT has me doing). I never push my back to far but keeping it strong is the key to keeping it from a spasum or going out completely, it's done both but nither since i started exercising it.

I believe the ab work has helped mine more than anything. After all the trouble that I've had with mine I'll do anything to avoid the steroid shots. They make me a very creepy guy.
