Dr. Robert C. Atkins, whose best-selling low-carbohydrate, high-protein diet was dismissed as nutritional folly for years but was recently validated in some research, died Thursday, his spokesman said. He was 72.
Atkins had suffered a severe head injury April 8 after falling on an icy sidewalk while walking to work.

Ya, I just heard about it, too. What a sucky way to go.... sheesh!
I may not have totally agreed with his diet concepts, but at least he got got people looking seriously at protein again.

Yeah, I just recently lost 30 pounds on that diet (before I started working out). He did get people to accept proteins and monitor carb intake.
